Het is een internationale organisatie tegen <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/corruptie" class="extiw" title="w:corruptie">corruptie</a>. </p><p>De lijst wordt ieder jaar gepubliceerd. In 2007 stond <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nederland" class="extiw" title="w:Nederland">Nederland</a> een gedeelde zevende plek op het cijfer 9,0. Daarmee scoort Nederland even goed als <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zwitserland" class="extiw" title="w:Zwitserland">Zwitserland</a>. </p><p>De hoogste score was 9,4 waarbij <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nieuw-Zeeland" class="extiw" title="w:Nieuw-Zeeland">Nieuw-Zeeland</a>, <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland" class="extiw" title="w:Finland">Finland</a> en <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denemarken" class="extiw" title="w:Denemarken">Denemarken</a> de beste plek delen als minst corrupte landen, gevolgd door <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore" class="extiw" title="w:Singapore">Singapore</a>, <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zweden" class="extiw" title="w:Zweden">Zweden</a> en <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJsland" class="extiw" title="w:IJsland">IJsland</a>. <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan" class="extiw" title="w:Afghanistan">Afghanistan</a> scoorde heel slecht en eindigde op de 172e plek. Dat maakt het tot het meest corrupte land van de wereld, van de beoordeelde landen althans. </p><p>Vorig jaar stond Nederland op de negende plek met een rapportcijfer, 8,7.
